January`s Top Tip: Get Noisy!

[ 14 Jan 2010] old macdonald

Having fun making sounds together will help your child develop clear speech.

Animal sounds like moo, miaow and  wuff-wuff, transport sounds like beep-beep and vroom-vroom and home sounds like ring-ring, sshh!, tick-tock, ding-dong, splish-splash are all fun.

Encourage your child to join in with sounds in stories and rhymes and play  games that include noises like animal snap.

Jill Murphy`s picture book Peace at Last` has lots of lovely household sounds as part of the story and Old Macdonald Had a Farm is always a favourite rhyme!
