December`s You Ask the Question

[ 01 Dec 2009]

You can help develop your child`s use of language by using the “Match + 1” technique. This means modelling for them the next step you would like them to achieve by  matching what they have said and then adding another word.

For example.....
if your child points to an object and says 'car' or 'dog'; you can say 'yes, mummy`s car' or  'big dog'

Children learn by copying and imitating language they hear around them. Therefore they need clear models from an adult to copy.
