Quest Seekers!

[ 24 Jul 2009]

Quest Seekers runs from Saturday 18 July to Saturday 5 September at all libraries and on all mobile libraries during normal library opening hours.
Children can join in any time during the holidays so even if they are on holiday at the start of the summer they can still take part. Please visit www.questseekers.org.uk to continue the adventure.

Children all over the UK are about to embark on a fantastical adventure and become a Quest Seeker. The theme is all about the power of the imagination. It will take young readers into a mysterious and wondrous land where they can discover the joy of reading and nurture a life-long love affair with books. It also promotes the library as a place of wonder and excitement, where librarians can offer children invaluable advice and guidance to help them through their quest.

  • Children choose books to read with family and friends
  • They then talk to library staff about their reading.
  • They collect ‘rewards’ to mark their progress.
  • Children, who finish the scheme by reading a minimum of 6 books, receive a certificate and a medal

The Challenge is designed to have maximum child appeal. Children love the collectable folders, stickers and medals. And it’s not a competition, but a personal challenge within a particular time-frame which offers reading inspiration and incentives to encourage children into libraries
